Day 8

Happy Birthday to my very wise and loving Grandmother!
Enjoyed a wonderful afternoon visiting with my whole extended family. This was one of those days that managed to go by very quickly with so much to do and little time for me. I managed to make a juice in the morning:

Good morning juice
- 2 pears
- 2 lemons
- 1 cucumber
- 2 heads of romaine

Not a lot of "me" time  and probably not enough juices but I managed to make it though the day which is an accomplishment in itself for me today! I've learned to celebrate the successes and let go of the rest.

Much love today!

Day 7

Friday, it's the end of the week and already 1 week has gone by and I'm feeling great.
Today was an exceptionally busy day with a lot of running around and temptations all around me - Costco food samples... some of you may be familiar with this.
Always having water with me helps avoid temptation. I've also noticed that if the urge to cheat hits that taking a walk outside and take 10 deep breaths helps. You may also call a supportive friend or call/email me to get a boost of moral support and to remember your not alone on this journey! Acknowledge your progress, learn from your experiences, and let other's share their experiences with
you.

Juice of the day:
SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE
3 apples
1 red pepper
1 pineapple
6 carrots
1 tsp flax oil

Day 6

We had a great half way meet up/ juice luck with the group! Many of us have expressed that this juice feast is exactly what they needed to get back on track and make some lasting changes to
their lives. Several individuals are already seeing and feeling the effects of our juicy journey. I've noticed my body feels a bit lighter and my head feels clearer. I'm less bloated, my skin is brighter and clearer, my eyes are less puffy and those dark circles are gone.

We all enjoyed all the juices shared in the evening one of my favourite simple recipes that I remembered trying was Sue's - Carrot/Apple/Ginger mmm...

Thank-you to everyone who has shared their juicing and their journey's.

Day 5

We are now half way in our 10 day feast, I hope that those that are joining me are remembering to work on your mind and spirit as well as your body. Are you taking some meditative time for yourself? Have you given yourself any pampering? Personally, I find it such a great opportunity to prioritize taking care of me right now knowing all the additional benefits because of the amazing juice I'm consuming.  I know it can be difficult at the best of times but I know that you can find at least 35 minutes to do something good for yourself every day! That's 15 minutes of meditation and 20 minutes of exercise. You may even find that you enjoy it so much that you give yourself an hour.

I'm very excited to have pineapple today after having gone shopping yesterday.
Straight pineapple juice acts as a liver cleanser and contains masses of the enzyme bromelain, which is anti-inflammatory not to mention it's delicious.  Below is one of the recipes I look forward to making today:

Pineapple/Greens/Celery/Mint
1/2 a pineapple
1 head greens - I particularly like spinach or red chard
1 head celery
big handful of fresh mint

makes about 34-40 ounces

Day 4

What to Juice?
I recently read about a good/easy rule of thumb is to use when juicing:
1 part green vegetables to 3 parts other veggies, like- carrot, apple, beet etc.
The sweeter base combination makes the drink far more palatable for those of you new to green juices and maybe getting bored. The last thing I would want is for you to be totally turned off by a bitter tasting juice. Also, keep your juices simple by limiting the number of ingredients to 4 or 5 per juice. The more you add, the more likely you’ll have a bitter juice with the complex flavours.  Additionally, too many ingredients may cause a bit of bloating. Hopefully your comfort zone is a little broader by now and you have a better idea of what your body and taste buds are craving and your feeling more creative and ready to experiment with your next shopping trip.

Here is another recipe that we tried today... lots of positive feedback with this one:
Tomato Salsa Verde - Juiced
1 lb. tomatos
1/2 jalapeƱo (serrano chiles work well too)
a few stalks of celery
1 small sweet onion
2 cloves garlic
1/2 bunch fresh cilantro
1-2 limes
1 tbsp. cold pressed olive, hemp, or flax or oil
(Add a couple of tbsp of raw honey if you'd like it sweeter)

Day 3

Spent the morning enjoying the sunshine,  relaxing and visiting with my cousin. I decided to make my delicious sweet apple/pear/cucumber/greens drink for us to share for breakfast. I also made dinner for a family member it was a curry casserole with broccoli, carrots, peppers, peas, green beans and a sauce I whipped up in the blender. This inspired me to make a green drink with some spices in it.
Indian Delight
 - 1 tomato
- 3 carrots
- 1 green pepper
- 1 head of celery
- 2 cloves of garlic and some ginger
- 1/8th jalapeno pepper
- 1 green pepper
- 1 bunch of cilantro
- ~1/2 tsp of cumin
- ~1/2 tsp of fennel
- ~1/2 tsp of paprika
- ~1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper
- I filled the rest up with Spinach and Romaine
It was a great spicy Indian flavoured green drink. I ended up diluting it with a bit of water while drinking it because it was quite spicy but I sure enjoyed the flavours.

I've noticed that I've passed a bit of mucous lining today which is always interesting to me. I'm really starting to feel the effects as I feel more aware of things and I feel quite content with life today.

Day 2

Today was a good day and having lots of family around makes the day go by quick as there's always something to do. We enjoyed a "regular" green drink for breakfast and lunch and for dinner Auntie requested something a little sweeter so I made one with:
something sweet
- 3 apples
- 2 pears
- 1 cucumber
- a piece of ginger
- spinach and romaine which I used to fill the rest of the blender

It was perfect delicious! I finished the evening off with a foot detox and sauna. No extreme detox effects today and the drinks seem to be going down smooth. It's fun making drinks for and with other people, it keeps me trying new things when I can share and get requests.
